Do You Really Support Local!

by Wes Wade

Do you make a conscious decision to put your money where your mouth is?

Almost everyone I talk to tells me they support local and love what we are doing with I Luv Local Places.com. And I am confident they mean every word.

It is often necessary to shop at the big box, corporate stores and we are not saying you are wrong to do so. National stores are national because they are good at what they do, make buying from them convenient (especially online) and advertise often to keep their brand top of mind.

Your buying patterns are influenced by the above and are rooted in habit. You truly have to stop and think, to change a habit. We are asking you to put forth the effort to think of where you spend your money and how you can change the buying pattern to a locally owned source.

A good example for office supplies and products for business is Offices Unlimited. They are locally owned, take pride in their products and service, competing head to head with the national corporations.

If you buy office or janitorial supplies, office or medical furniture, why not call them and see what they can do for you. They have an online ordering system available and deliver most items the following day, to your location.

Good people, products and service, locally owned. Any reason you shouldn't be using them???

And yes, Offices Unlimited does support us through advertising. However, we have been preaching this message from day one when we had no supporters. It is in our name "I Luv Local Places", duh! This is not simply about a particular business, it is about each one of us and how we spend our money. Changing the programmed, automatic buying process by consciously seeking local alternatives takes effort and we hope you will put forth some effort and help our local businesses be strong.

The next time you spend money, whether it is eating out or buying whatever you need, stop and think about your locally owned options. If you need help, visit our site, we have a restaurant directory and are building a business directory to make the process easier for you.
