Home Brew Competition
The Cape Girardeau Jaycees along with Homebrew Supply of Southeast Missouri, LLC are partnering to for a Homebrew Beer Competition.  This first-time event is not sanctioned and is simply for fun!  There will be two categories for dark and light beer. A fee of $5 per entry will be collected and prizes will be awarded.  
 
For those who would just like to check out the festivities we are proud to have Buckner Brewing available to the public!

BBQ FEST INFORMATION:  There is one huge change this year.  The Cape Girardeau Health Department is requesting that all teams be on concrete.  This is due to the amount of teams sampling BBQ to people other than team members in years past.  We are doing our best to make this happen and make sure that we can continue to have this event in our community to raise money for our Toybox Program!  This will change how we do our layout and setup this year and we are still in the planning stages of making this work.  Additionally, we are going to offer teams the opportunity to sell BBQ to the public as this is our top comment from attendees.  Teams interested in this option will need to comply with the Health Department Selling Requirements and pay the $30.00 permit fee.  
 
We are a sanctioned Kansas City Barbeque Society event! This means bigger cash prizes for all winners. First place teams in each category will receive $300; second place $150; third place $100; fourth place $75; and fifth place $62.50. Places 6-10 will receive $25. The Grand Champion of the Cape BBQ Fest will receive a trophy PLUS $1,000. The Reserve Grand Champion will receive $750. Teams must barbecue in ALL FOUR (4) categories to be eligible for this award. The "SHOWMANSHIP" category will again be included as part of Friday night's program. Showmanship is awarded to the team inviting the most notice or attention by presenting or displaying entertainment to amuse other teams and the public through song, skits, activities, decorations, costumes, enthusiasm and crowd participation. Judging for the showmanship category will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday evening with the winners announced at 9:30 p.m. PLEASE NOTE: Meat categories are chicken, pork ribs (loin or spare), pork (shoulder/butt/picnic), and brisket (beef).

This year's Cape BBQ Fest will be bigger and better than ever.
